India has officially announced its squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, starting with their opening match against Bangladesh on February 20. This tournament marks India’s return to ICC 50-over cricket after their impressive performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, where they won 10 consecutive games but fell short in the final, finishing as runners-up.

In this updated squad, six players from the 2023 World Cup team are missing, while some new faces have made their way into the lineup.

New Additions: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant Return

A total of five players who were not part of the World Cup 2023 squad have been included in the Champions Trophy 2025 squad.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the most notable additions. Although he has showcased his talent in Tests and T20Is, he is yet to make his debut in ODIs.
Rishabh Pant also makes a comeback after recovering from the injuries sustained in a car accident that kept him out of the 2023 World Cup.
Axar Patel, initially part of the World Cup squad but ruled out due to injury, has been recalled.
Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh are also new entries to strengthen the team.

Who Misses Out?

Six players from the World Cup 2023 squad are absent this time:

Ishan Kishan: The backup wicketkeeper in 2023 has not been part of the Indian team since losing his central contract.
Suryakumar Yadav: Dropped due to poor performances in the World Cup.
Ravichandran Ashwin: Retired from international cricket.
Mohammed Siraj: A notable exclusion, as India opted for only three pacers for the Dubai tournament.
Prasidh Krishna: Missed out despite being in contention.
Shardul Thakur: Lost his spot in the Indian team entirely.
